The Department of Italian Language and Literature maintains two research Laboratories:
• Laboratory of Linguistic Analysis and Computational Processing of Romance Languages •
Director: Professor Yannoula Yannoulopoulou
Since 2022 the "Laboratory of Computational Stylistics" in the Department of Italian Language and Literature has been renamed to "Laboratory of Linguistic Analysis and Computational Processing of Romance Languages." The new Laboratory serves research, teaching, educational, consulting, training, conference, and publication needs in the field of linguistic analysis and computational processing of Romance languages (e.g., Italian, Spanish, French, Romanian) as well as language varieties (e.g., Aromanian).
• The Laboratory of Language, Translation and Study of the Relations between Greek and Italian Languages •
Founder and Current director Professor Domenica Minniti Gonias (active term 1/9/2020 - present)
Among other research activities, the Laboratory organizes the bi-annual international conference Italloelenica.
• The Laboratory of Italian History and Historiography •
Founder and Current director Professor Gerassimos D. Pagratis (active term 1/10/2021 - present)
The Laboratory focuses on:
• new research trends on matters of Italian history from an interdisciplinary viewpoint,
• the teaching of Italian history outside Italy,
• the study of sources of Italian history, especially those outside Italy,
• the rule of Italian states in the Eastern Mediterranean,
• the influence of Italian civilization in the Mediterranean and Europe etc.
